My Idiolect

Family

. With parents coming from different cultural backgrounds this effects my accent.

. As my mother was born in Italy, the strong language overpowers the Norfolk accent which my Dad holds

. Many times my dad has dragged out the R's in his speech which is not contemplated by my mothers accent.

.As my two sisters are also in the same situation as me, we try to use are strong accents from our mother as it seem to have a higher prestige impact on others.

Friends

. As most of my friends are born in this region, they have a strong accent with the parents also having this as their home location.

.To try and fit in, I tend to use my Norfolk accent and roll my R's as it will be picked up on if i try not to use my accent
